Vision For An IRM Prayer Summit
People initially hear about a Prayer Summit from a friend, an article, or book. We desire for you to completely understand what a summit is so that you will have the best summit experience possible. We don't feel the need to convince anyone to have a summit, but we want to find and support those whom the Lord has already convinced. We encourage you to think through the following:
SOME DEFINITIONS
OUR VISION
The International Renewal Ministries team seeks individually greater intimacy with Christ, and corporately a visitation by the Spirit of God upon His people. We want to see a move of God initiated and sustained in as many communities as possible.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to serve as a catalyst for unity in the body of Christ, through enriching and equipping activities for the leadership of the church that will lead to spiritual renewal, an increased spiritual harvest, and a change in society.
OUR MAIN VEHICLE - A Prayer Summit
Dr. Joe Aldrich, founder of IRM, has given us the following definition of a Prayer Summit:
'A Prayer Summit is a prolonged, typically four-day, life changing worship experience. It is attended by a diversity of Christian leaders from a specific geographic community. Their sole purpose is to seek God, His kingdom, and His righteousness. The expectation is that God will create and guide them through a humbling, healing, uniting process, which will lead them to a unity of heart, mind, and mission and qualify them for the blessing of God.'
Six Foundation Stones
The following six statements provide a foundation for our perspective on Prayer Summits.
-
We deeply desire to see a move of God initiated and sustained in as many communities as possible.
-
We are convinced that a significant, sustained prayer movement is essential for this to take place. This prayer movement will greatly impact our relationship with God and with one another and our ability to fulfill our Scriptural responsibilities.
-
We believe that this prayer movement will lead to and launch other Spirit-directed, united, strategic activities.
-
We believe that quality Prayer Summits are catalysts to initiate and sustain this significant prayer movement.
-
Therefore we deeply desire to see as many quality Prayer Summits take place in as many communities as possible.
- However, even if a move of God does not result from our prayer efforts, or it does not happen in the manner or time frame we expect, we believe that the value of a Prayer Summit is not diminished, because we have spent time in His presence doing the 'one thing' He deeply desires of us.

Readiness Questions
- Congruency of vision -- Is there a core of people who share the vision of seeing a move of God initiated and sustained in a community through a healthy, unified, humble church because of time spent in His holy presence?
-
Breadth of involvement -- Is this group seeking to relate properly to the various streams of the whole body of Christ in a community? Have all groups- ethnic, denominational, generational, and possibly even gender- been equally invited to the table so there is no sense that the Prayer Summit 'belongs' to only a portion of the church?
-
Depth of commitment -- Is there a sense of desperation for God, or is a summit just a nice idea? Are there those in the community who are fully committed to the hard work of seeing His body walk and work together?
-
Historical alignment -- Does this fit with what God has been doing in this community? Would a Prayer Summit align with the unique history of the work of God in this community?
